At work we have a biennial golf tournament called The Falvey Cup. 12 golfers from Falvey Insurance Group face off against 12 players from Lloyd’s of London, whom we have a close business relationship with, Ryder Cup style. This year I was commissioned to make 24 plaques as trophies for the players and a cocktail serving trays for each of the team captains. 12 of the plaques say CHAMPIONS on them, the other 12 do not. The trays have the commemorative coins from each Falvey Cup that has taken place, beneath a layer of epoxy.
The plaques are Black Walnut with satin polyurethane. The trays are Sapele (a variety of African Mahogany) with Maple splines and semi gloss polyurethane.
This Charcuterie Board is a scale replica of the 18th green at Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club in Middletown, RI. I made it as a raffle gift for a charity golf tournament which benefited the Save The Bay organization. It’s made from Poplar (which has a natural green tint). The contoured sand traps are curly maple which resembled sand.

They are made from mahogany, cherry, maple, oak, walnut, blood wood, yellowheart, and purpleheart. This year there was no official Woodworkers Fighting Cancer program. However, I wanted to continue the tradition and my donation to the cause. I picked this project out myself, and raffled it off as usual with every dollar of the raffle ticket sales going to the previous year’s charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
263 tickets were sold, which brought in a total of $2,630 which was donated to St. Judes!
